Capsule Exhibition

Princeton, NJ, 2022

Capsule, the exhibition, activates the hermetic space of the “white cube” as a physical simulation of the atemporal, disembodied conversations that often occur online. Elements of the exhibition encourage visitors to converse within the space by leaving behind bodily fragments—voice recordings and PDF texts—for others to find. The exhibition builds upon conversations with nine new media artists and graphic designers conducted over the summer of 2021, which were compiled into a little magazine also called Capsule. By contributing to the exhibition, visitors become co-artists and interlocutors with previous participants in an ongoing conversation about the physicality of digital space. Content from the original Capsule is also on display for visitors to view, as well as recordings of the original Zoom conversations, and a two-hour video documenting the initial launch of Capsule in Brooklyn, NY.
